Omega 3 supplements improve mental health

Some scientists suspect that the increasing incidence of depression in the United States is due in part to declining levels of fish consumption. Low levels of omega 3 may weaken cell membranes and the production of certain neurotransmitters in the brain.

When scientists looked at 44 people with bipolar disorder, a severe form of depression, they found that two out of three improved if they were given fish oil.

Omega 3 can be taken in the form of oily fish or as a supplement. Omega 3 supplements are the most popular and reliable way of ensuring you have an adequsate daily intake of omega 3.
